Fantastic Plastic Show in Austin Texas, July 25th - Sept 19th, 2009

One of my images was accepted into the Plastic Fantastic show at Watson Gallery last July. The show was juried by Susan Burnstine--I'm a huge fan of her photography. Please check out her website. Here is the promo poster and some snaps from the show:

Letterpress Printing Class at THE ARM in Brooklyn

I've been wanting to take a letterpress class for a long time--something about the look and feel of a well-printed piece of work that really appeals to my sense of design. Then I discovered the masters... Studio On Fire in Minneapolis. Take a minute and look at their blog, Beast Pieces. Unreal. So much talent in that one studio.

So I decided to take the introductory letterpress class at The Arm in Brooklyn. We first started out on the Vandercook presses with wooden type, then tried out lead type on two smaller platen presses. I loved it.

Here's one of the pieces I made, lyrics from Fugazi's Waiting Room off of the album Thirteen Songs.

I just finished framing the print for the KK2010 show--did I mention how much fun framing a print is when the humidity is really low? Dust sticks to everything... Another image from this series was selected for the Plastic Fantastic show in Austin Texas on July 25, 2009. I'll post more about that show later.

Krappy Kamera 2010 Invite
